Apple Pay is transforming mobile payments with an easy, secure and private way to pay that's also fast and convenient for customers. The new wireless service can be made use at any contactless payment terminal (wireless credit card readers for instance) in nearly all major retailers in the UAE. Jennifer Bailey, VP of Apple Pay, said that 4,000 issuers worldwide now work with the wallet.
"As you know, moving towards cashless transactions is part of the UAE's government strategy, which has been supported by numerous leading banks in the market".
Apple buys wireless charging firm, aims for 'effortless' device recharging
Apple also announced a new wireless charging pad called the AirPower that it plans to release next year. Neither company has revealed the value of the deal.
The service is available to card holders of several banks in the U.A.E., including Emirates Islamic, Emirates NBD, HSBC, Mashreq, Rakbank and Standard Chartered Bank. The service was initially released in 2014.
The latest innovation from boon is based on an automatic app-to-wallet integration using a virtual Mastercard issued by Wirecard Card Solutions Ltd., and is reportedly the industry's first fully digitalized mobile payment solution on the European market that is completely independent of any bank. Over the last few years, Nordea has systematically built up its mobile payment services portfolio.
