The best friends spoke out about the kidney transplant during the recent joint interview with Today, Gomez and Raisa talked about recovery and surgery. "Not every patient who gets lupus ends up with kidney failure, but some do", he said. "I love you so much sis".
Selena Gomez had to go back under the knife after her kidney transplant when the new organ "flipped" inside her body. She volunteered and did it. Since Raisa was able to donate, the tests would have concluded that she had passed all the following test requirements - the current standard for donors - assessing her emotional and physical capacity to make the donation. "And I asked what's wrong", Raisa said. "And in the middle of that process I started hyperventilating and felt so much pain", she said.
'And she goes, "I don't know what to do".
"I said, 'Of course I'll get tested!'."
"What I wanted more than anything was that we were together", the former Disney star said of wanting recover with Raisa. "I want to do this".

Before going into surgery, she gave a peace sign to Selena, who went under the knife next.
"I had to write a will which was scary".
She also noted that girls were unable to shower.

She was then rushed in for a six-hour surgery, with doctors quickly realizing her kidney had begun to turn around in her body. Gomez's kidney apparently flipped inside her body, causing vast pain and an additional surgery. "I knew she hadn't been feeling well", the Grown-ish star shared.
The friends weren't just up and running around afterward-it was a tough recovery process. They were on bedrest and allowed to walk an hour a day.
