The Journal reported that Federal Bureau of Investigation agents asked at least four people about a December meeting in NY where Flynn and Turkish government representatives discussed removing Gulen, according to people with knowledge of the FBI's inquiries.
But a new report in today's Wall Street Journal should rock the Trump administration, if not the president himself, because it deals with post-election conduct that may have continued even after the inauguration.
Citing "people with knowledge of discussions" between Flynn and Turkish representatives, The Journal reported that Flynn and his son were to be paid as much as $15 million by the Turkish government.
He is now the center of criminal, military and congressional investigations that seek to unearth a possible connection between that and his decisions while he was the president's adviser.

Mueller's investigation into Trump's aides has intensified in recent weeks, with charges being brought against the president's former campaign chairman, an ex-campaign official and a former foreign policy adviser. "A covert step in the dead of night to whisk this guy away", Woolsey described the plan underlining that he attended the meeting at the request of one of Mr. Flynn's business associates. Former CIA director James Woolsey earlier told media that Flynn met with Turkish government officials in September 2016 to forcedly send Gulen back to Turkey.
This meeting was held in December - after the US presidential election and during Donald Trump's transition period - as Flynn was preparing to oversee national-security policy at the White House.
Flynn was allegedly offered upwards of $15 million to close the deal successfully.
While his investigation is focused on Russian meddling, Mr Mueller has a broad mandate and has homed in on Mr Flynn's activities as Mr Trump's lead national security adviser.

However, Flynn's counsel did speak up this week following a report from the Wall Street Journal that Mueller was looking into reports that Flynn and his son, Michael Flynn Jr., planned to kidnap a Turkish official living in the us and bring him back to Turkey.
Flynn worked on behalf of the Turkish government before being named White House National Security Adviser for President Trump, but did not disclose his lobbying work for the country until March.
As a rule, they said, they do not comment on news reports involving their client.
"If Mueller has sufficient evidence that Flynn and his son were involved in this audacious plot to kidnap the cleric, the special counsel can use that to pressure the former Trump campaign associate to flip and tell the FBI everything he knows of relevance to the Russian Federation investigation".
