According to the arrest warrant affidavit, one of Frisina's friends told her parents that Rodriguez wanted to leave the country with the 17-year-old teen but "she didn't know how to get out [of] it and if she did he would mess up her life".
The Columbia County soccer coach Rian Rodriguez, who investigators said ran off with 17 year old Caitlyn Frisina, waived an extradition hearing and is cooperating with law enforcement after the pair was found in NY on Friday.
Her parents flew to Syracuse to get her on Saturday.

Columbia County Sheriff Mark Hunter said during Monday's news conference that he feels Frisina was "influenced" by Rodriguez. The messages were recovered from Frisina's phone, which the teen performed a factory reset before leaving it behind in her bedroom.
Deputies say the teen left Florida with Rodriguez, a soccer coach at her high school. From interviews, though, authorities said they have learned of what Smith described as the "blossoming of a potential relationship" between Frisina and Rodriguez. The Post-Standard reports police are holding Rian Rodriguez on a charge from Florida known as interference with child custody.
