The U.S. Commerce Department upheld on Wednesday the almost 300 per cent in duties that Bombardier will face on C Series passenger jets delivered in the U.S.
"The United States is committed to a free, fair, and reciprocal trade and will always stand up for American workers and companies being harmed by unfair imports", he said in a news release.
The International Trade Commission will make its final injury determination by February 1, and if injury is found, Commerce will issue AD and CVD orders.
Steve Turner, Unite assistant general-secretary, said: "The US Commerce Department decision on C-Series tariffs is nakedly political and has the potential to crush jobs, not only in Northern Ireland but in the US too".
Boeing said Bombardier hurt its chances of selling its 737 airplane in the US, which Bombardier denies.

Bombardier called Boeing's original grievance against C-Series subsidies "an unfounded assault on airlines, the flying public, and the US aerospace industry".
"It is beyond all reason that Boeing could be threatened with injury in a market segment it exited over a decade ago".
Canada's government will review the final determinations to consider next steps and options for appeal, she said. The three countries have been struggling to update the 23-year-old pact.
The ruling affirms a preliminary finding that Bombardier received unfair subsidies from the Canadian government that allowed it to sell planes at below the cost of production, and compete unfairly with American aerospace giant Boeing (NYSE: BA - news), which lodged the complaint.

That has been true since the start of the investigation, and recent developments make it even clearer, particularly the Bombardier and Airbus partnership, which will include the construction of a new US manufacturing facility in Alabama.
With the new judgement passed on Wednesday, the USA chose to find in favor of Boeing.
