Reliance Jio, on Monday, announced its new recharge plans for its users as a part of the Happy New Year 2018 offer, wherein it will give 1.5 GB data per day in four of its packs. Airtel subscribers recharging for Rs 448 or Rs 509 get extended validity and with it comes extra 1GB data per day benefit as per the new trend in popular plans.
The company's flagship Rs 399 plan will now provide 20% additional data with a validity of two additional weeks, increasing the current validity from 70 to 84 days. A bunch of plans have further gotten revamped to include 1.5GB of data per day instead of 1GB.

All Jio plans will continue to offer free unlimited calling and SMSes within India even during roaming. Importantly, it brought down the entry price of 1GB a day data plans to ₹149 for 28 days, the lowest in the industry, which will likely force its rivals to match up, hitting their average revenue per user.
The plan also offers unlimited local and STD calls, however, there is a daily limit of 250 minutes per day and 1000 minutes for the week.

India's leading telecom operator Airtel also made the same changes to its Rs 448 and Rs 509 open market tariff plans. Details of the plans, such as the data allocation, calling, and SMS benefits as well as access to free apps, will remain the same as before. The ₹448 prepaid plan now comes with a validity of 82 days, whereas, the one priced at ₹509 comes with a validity of 91 days. This means users get a total of 82GB data on this plan. It will now compete against Airtel's Rs 509 plan which also offers same amount of data. Apart from this, users will get unlimited voice calls on local and STD networks.
On a recharge of Rs 198, the users will get 42 GB data on the offer, as compared to 28 GB which was provided earlier. This means what Jio was offering at Rs. 399 prepaid recharge plan will now be available at Rs. 349 only.
