James Damore, the programmer who was sacked from Google past year after circulating a manifesto that argued that women are less biologically suited for tech jobs, has filed a class-action lawsuit against the company, alleging that it discriminates against conservative white men.
Former Google engineer, James Damore, is suing Google for discrimination.
At the in-person training, entitled "Bias Busting", Google discussed how biases against women exist in the workplace, and how "white male privilege" exists in the workplace.
He is now claiming that Google discriminates against politically conservative white men.
Karma meets karma: GoPro exits drone race due to poor sales
In the company's fourth quarter 2017 results announcement, it said it will discontinue its Karma drone and exit the category. GoPro was already forced to drop prices on their primary camera, the HERO5, because of poor sales during the holiday season.
The claim, launched by two software engineers who were dismissed by the company, alleged that Google "singled out, mistreated and systematically punished" employees who deviated from its views on political and diversity matters.
Lawyers for Damore and David Gudeman, another former engineer, filed a lawsuit in Santa Clara Superior Court in Northern California that charges Google "discriminated against employees for their perceived conservative political views".
The suit goes on to explain how the Leftist mob mentality perpetuated and encouraged at Google led to some of the employees who harassed Damore being promoted for their actions, while certain blacklists were also formed against those who identified as Conservatives or supported President Donald Trump.
The suit claims employees were awarded peer bonuses for arguing against Damore: "In one example of this, an employee gave a Peer Bonus to another employee, and stated that the bonus was for 'speaking up for googley values and promoting [diversity and inclusion] in the wretched hive of scum and villainy that is [Damore's Memo].' The Google Recognition Team reviewed this justification, considered it appropriate, and allowed the bonus to proceed".
A bullet point he wrote claiming women on average tend to be more neurotic than men, with "higher anxiety, lower stress tolerance", caused particular unrest.
Selfie-Focused Smartphone Headlines Sony's CES 2018 Lineup
The Sony Xperia XA2 Ultra boasts a familiar Sony design, which isn't the most exciting out there, but it is at least functional. Quick charging is also supported to give you hours of power with just minutes of charging (requires Quick Charger UCH12W).
Google said in a statement: "We look forward to defending against Mr Damore's lawsuit in court". Gudeman was reportedly fired from the company in 2016 after comments he made allegedly linking a Muslim colleague to terrorism.
Damore was eventually fired, but he was never explicitly told what policy he violated.
Now, the company must battle both suits, with one claiming the company is doing too much to diversify its payroll, and the other claiming it isn't doing enough.
During a press tour after his firing, Damore said being conservative at Google was comparable to "being gay in the 1950s".
