On Monday The tangential All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) conveyor and newly-elected MLA in the Tamil Nadu Secretariat, TTV Dhinakaran condemned Chief Minister Edappadi K Palanisamy over information of special buses being approved for the MLAs amidst the continuing bus strike in the state. If the bill is passed in the house, it will come into effect from Thursday.
Leader of Opposition and DMK's working President MK Stalin raised objections when the Bill was being introduced, stating, "We are strongly opposing the draft which provides Salary hike for MLAs". An announcement to this effect was made in July previous year but the government introduced the bill to withdraw Rs 25.32 crore annually from the consolidated fund of the state towards salaries and allowances for the legislators. "For the past two days, the family members of the striking workers are on the street but the government is not doing anything about it", Stalin said.
