Bajwa made the comments to Votel earlier this week during a phone call, a spokesman for Pakistan's military said in a statement on Friday.

The US aid suspension was announced days after Trump tweeted on January 1 that the United States had foolishly given Pakistan $33 billion in aid over 15 years and was rewarded with "nothing but lies & deceit, thinking of our leaders as fools". There has been speculation the USA military might undertake drone strikes deep inside Pakistan to target suspected hideouts of the Taliban and the allied Haqqani network.
Khan's observations come amid renewed USA criticism and withholding of security assistance to Pakistan over its alleged failure to take decisive action against militant groups hostile to the US.
He also said that Pakistan would not seek to unfreeze the funding, but does "expect honourable recognition of our contributions, sacrifices and unwavering resolve in fight against terrorism".
