The Giants are expected to hire Vikings offensive coordinator Pat Shurmur as head coach, according to the NFL Network. Per Rapsheet, Shurmur will accept the job if offered. It's the Vikings' first championship game appearance since 2009. However, the move can't happen until the Vikings are finished with their postseason.
Several of the Arizona Cardinals' head coaching candidates remain busy with their teams in the National Football League playoffs.
Pat Shurmur spent a couple years in Philadelphia as the offensive coordinator under Chip Kelly. In his first four seasons, Keenum played for three teams, had a career passer rating of 78.4 and a touchdown-interception ratio of 24-20. Case Keenum has emerged as a top quarterback and the tandem of Jerrick McKinnon and Latavius Murray in the backfield has made up for lost production. In 2017, it was 11-3.
Oops! Hawaii Officials Accidently Send Warning Of Incoming Ballistic Missile
Brian Schatz of Hawaii called for the alert system to be suspended until "we can be 100 percent confident in its reliability". Thirty-eight long minutes later, the Hawaiian Emergency Management Agency sent an update saying the alert was made in error.
The Giants are planning to schedule a second interview next week with Shurmur, sources told ESPN's Dan Graziano and Chris Mortensen.
Shurmur has a strong history of working with and developing quarterbacks.
NY owns the No. 2 pick in April's NFL Draft and is expected to select a quarterback to serve as Eli Manning's heir.
Before heading to Philly, Shurmur was the head coach of the Cleveland Browns for two seasons, where he posted a 9-23 record. Obviously, by next week, there will be only two teams left playing. And he could provide a spark to the offense.
Lions to pick Patriots' Patricia as coach
It appears that the "will he, won't he" saga of Matt Patricia and the Detroit Lions could soon officially be answered. A native of Sherrill, N.Y., Patricia was an offensive lineman at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, N.Y.
Will the Giants wait?
Just like any other season, many rumors have been flying around about who might coach the Giants.
Shurmur was also credited with the albeit brief resurgence of Sam Bradford under centre during the Vikings' last campaign. Waiting and then hiring Wilks would cost the Giants several weeks of important prep work for the 2018 season, so they may consider making that decision now.
