Oxfam toughened up how sex abuse allegations among volunteers, both in the United Kingdom and overseas, are investigated after the shocking case when senior staff members hired prostitutes, who may have been underage, for a "Caligula-style orgy" in earthquake-torn Haiti in 2011, as revealed by a damning report.
Oxfam officials are due to meet the Charity Commission on Wednesday after the regulator launched a statutory inquiry.
The investigation comes after the resignation of Oxfam Britain's deputy chief executive, who apologized amid reports that Oxfam staff paid for sex while working among people devastated by a 2010 natural disaster.

British aid organization Oxfam faced fresh pressure on Tuesday (13 February) after a former senior member of staff said her concerns about "a culture of sexual abuse" involving aid workers in some the organisation's offices had been ignored, writes Alistair Smout.
