On Wednesday, the New York Giants pulled off a stunner of a trade to shore up their defense, acquiring linebacker Alec Ogletree from the Los Angeles Rams in exchange for a fourth-round pick and a sixth-round round pick in the 2018 NFL Draft.
Ogletree has 501 combined tackles over five seasons.
Ogletree signed a four-year, $42 million contract extension with the Rams in October, with $33 million paid out in the first three years of the deal.

During his visit, Le Drian also inaugurated an exhibition called "The Louvre in Tehran" at the Iranian National Museum. They should not bow down to Iran's demands.
In his fifth National Football League season, Ogletree accounted for 63 tackles, 2 sacks, 10 pass breakups and 1 interception this past year.
Ogletree was a first-round pick out of Georgia in 2013 and started all but one game he appeared in for the Rams since.
Ogletree will fill the Giants' need for quality veteran linebackers as they rebuild from their 3-13 season, arguably the worst in franchise history. Devon Kennard and Jonathan Casillas, both of whom were starting linebackers for the Giants in 2017, are scheduled to become free agent later this month.
France To Set Age of Consent at 15
The new law will be presented to the Council of Ministers - France's equivalent of a cabinet - later this month. But the same court reversed its decision last month, saying the accused should indeed face rape charges.
Despite their overall success last season under coach Sean McVay, the Rams clearly are reconfiguring their defense in Phillips' preferred image while clearing salary cap space.
