Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta and opposition leader Raila Odinga have agreed to reconcile and soothe tensions after last year's bitterly contested presidential election, and re-election.
The election season blunted growth in Kenya, East Africa's richest economy and a Western ally in a volatile region.
Odinga who later boycotted the October 26 presidential polls citing uneven playing field had vowed not to recognize Kenyatta's presidency.
The two share several similarities including making history as the longest serving political detainees in Kenya, with Odinga leading, after spending nine years behind bars, under retired President Daniel Moi's rule.
"I heard the three complaining of being left out in the talks, but I am wondering why because they were the first to be approached but turned us down fearing that they would be branded traitors", the senator said.
