Numerous speakers at the March for Our Lives rally were students propelled into the debate over gun laws when a 19-year-old with a semi-automatic rifle mowed down their classmates and teachers last month at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida.
In Washington, the epicenter of the protests, students from Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, where the February 14 shooting took place, sought to galvanize support for the movement they started more than a month ago.
"The march is just the start", said Aalayah Eastmond, a student who took shelter beneath the body of a classmate during the school shooting.
Several players said that initially, even the sound of striking the ball was hard to hear.
For survivors like her, it was important to stay in Parkland for the march - close to the families and friends of the 17 who were killed and they now try to honor.
Briana Borres, also in Miami, told ABC News, "I'm here to march for all of those who have no voices left and we are here to support those who can't support themselves".
"The people demand a law banning the sale of assault weapons", Kasky said. "I'd say there's a lot of misinformation and I came to talk to people", Eric Ciabottonia, a 19-year-old engineering major from Penn State University, said.
The Parkland activists haven't responded to Noir's comments directly, though they have gone on the offensive against people who've peddled conspiracy theories and otherwise tried to discredit them.

"My school is about 25% black, but the way we're covered doesn't reflect that", Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School student David Hogg said the night before.
The Washington rally kicked off with Andra Day singing "Rise Up" and also featured a performance by Jennifer Hudson, whose mother, brother and seven-year-old nephew were shot dead in 2008. In at least one school district, in Redmond, Washington, ALICE training also involved guidance for children to distract an intruder.

An estimated 4,000 people of all ages attended March for Our Lives in Westfield Saturday.

"From where I'm standing, it looks like a march to burn the Constitution and rewrite the parts that they don't like in crayon", Noir said.
"We recognize that Parkland received more attention because of its affluence", Jaclyn Corin, a survivor of the Parkland shooting, said in her speech. "And they call people like me "Hollywood liberals" like there's something in it for us".
Thousands meanwhile gathered in Parkland to pay tribute to those slain in the city on Valentine's Day.
"We applaud the many courageous young Americans exercising their First Amendment rights today", it said.
