The FBI is directing inquries to the U.S. Department of Justice.

Cindy McCain, the wife of Arizona Sen.

A Washington Post investigation past year found that Backpage was using a contractor in the Philippines to contact prostitutes on other websites, seeking to lure their ads to Backpage and creating the ads for those prostitutes in advance.

Michael Lacey, a founder of the website, was charged Friday in a 93-count indictment. They have also maintained that the site is protected from criminal charges by a federal statute, the Communications Decency Act.

Vehicle ploughs pedestrians in Munster, Germany; several dead, multiple injured
Police have urged people in Muenster to stay inside their homes and avoid the crash scene in the city's historic downtown. Amri was shot dead by Italian police in Milan four days later after travelling through several European countries.

Part of the Department of Justice's issue with websites like backpage.com is that they facilitate sex trafficking by giving sheepish people access to victims that they may not be fearless enough to approach on the street - leading to more business for traffickers and driving up the demand for young children who were forced into prostitution.

This bill was the reason that Craigslist, a popular classfied network based in San Francisco, shut down its personals section at the end of March.

The company's CEO and other officials were arrested and a series of court cases ensued.

Internet firms and advocates for free speech online had opposed Fosta, arguing that it would lead to censorship and was not necessary because the federal government already had the ability to prosecute people who used the internet to facilitate prostitution. They singled out Backpage, citing dozens of instances in which minors had been trafficked via the site.

Former South Korean president Park sentenced to 24 years in jail
The leader was, however, conspicuous by her absence at the court since she boycotted the trial accusing to be biased against her. The Seoul Central District Court ruled Park guilty of bribery , extortion , abuse of power and other charges.

"This legislation will allow law enforcement to investigate and prosecute individuals and businesses that advertise or facilitate sex trafficking more effectively", agreed Chuck Canterberry, President of the National Fraternal Order of Police.

A report from a Senate Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations chaired by Portman found that Backpage.com knew that sex traffickers and pimps were using its services to promote child prostitution, and its claim to be a mere web host for ads was "fiction".

The FBI has seized and shut down classified advertising website Backpage.com for being an alleged facilitator of sex trafficking: according to the DOJ, the site has earned $500 million from prostitution since its inception.

More than 40000 persons return homes in towns of eastern Ghouta
Jaish al-Islam is the last remaining rebel group in Eastern Ghouta but has repeatedly denied agreeing to leave the area. The comments came on the same day the Syrian army had declared "victory" against rebel groups in Eastern Ghouta.
