Syria's government and its ally Iran have accused Israel of carrying out the attack on the Tiyas, or T-4, air base near Homs - something that Israel has not confirmed or denied.
The suspected chemical attack came as the Syrian regime on Friday intensified the air and ground assault on Douma, the last rebel foothold in eastern Ghouta district on the edge of the capital, Damascus.
The attack took place hours after U.S. President Donald Trump warned there would be a "big price to pay" following the reports of a poison gas attack on the Syrian rebel-held town of Douma.
"Several missiles hit the Tayfur airport".

The report on SANA said the attack on the T4 military air base in Homs province "is likely to be an American aggression.' However, a spokesman for the Pentagon, Christopher Sherwood, said the U.S. was not conducting airstrikes in Syria".
Al-Manar TV station of Lebanon's Iran-backed Hezbollah group, which is fighting in Syria alongside the government forces, described the attack as an "Israeli aggression".

Trump on Monday condemned the "heinous attack" in Syria and said he would make a decision on a USA response "probably by the end of today" after huddling with military advisers.
According to The Atlantic, The White Helmets, a voluntary aide group, pinned the blame for the assault, which claimed more than 40 civilian lives, on the Syrian President Bashar al-Assad's regime.
