The ridesharing giant announced plans to acquire JUMP Bikes this week, according to our sister site Technical.ly Brooklyn.
The first 30 minutes of their ride will cost $2 plus taxes and fees. The new Uber app for drivers was tested with 100 driver partners of Uber from Bangalore for the global beta launch before the launch of the stable revamped version. Unlike traditional dockless bikes that can be left on available sidewalks, Jump pedal-assist bikes must be affixed to bike racks using integrated U-locks.
And Uber is now testing rental cars through peer-to-peer car-sharing service Getaround in San Francisco.
Uber Rent powered by Getaround enables Uber riders to instantly signup, reserve and unlock cars on the Getaround platform right from the Uber app.

Uber partner organisations include the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA), MP Shah Hospital, emergency services company Flare, vehicle dealer Toyotsu, Huawei, Techno, Essilor, Kingsway, and Telkom Kenya. "It is somewhat compelling to be able to get all your transportation through one platform".
It's part of the company's larger vision. "If this goes on, you'll simply have gridlock".
And Uber is out to rectify the situation and as an important step, the cab aggregator has developed and released an app for the drivers, which could mitigate many such complaints from the drivers.
"Autonomous is part of the solution and I think long term is going to be an important part of the solution of getting rid of vehicle ownership", Khosrowshahi said. Uber wants to own a piece of every trip that happens in cities, from e-bikes to public transit - even if it's not an Uber-operated service. In doing so, we will show that Uber is not just a really great product, but a really great company that is meaningfully contributing to society, beyond its business and its bottom line.

The new Uber driver app comes with an "Earnings tracker" that let drivers know how much they earned on their last trip, making it easy to track progress.
The data is being folded into separate similar information that includes taxicabs and other ride hailing companies. The second is a deal with Masabi, a British company that provides mobile payment options for public transit systems in New York, Boston, Los Angeles, and other cities around the world.
