The self-destructing emails in the new Gmail design seem to function like the popular client ProtonMail, and when a new "confidential" mode, you can make it so that an email becomes unreadable after a certain amount of time. Another report by TechCrunch has also discovered that the new Gmail is likely to have a feature that a lot of users might find very useful. Also, the new redesigned Gmail might be just around the corner, presently the redesigned Gmail has been seen on the Early Adopters Program.
It is believed that Google is working on a lock icon to activate the mode that will be introduced with the new design of the Gmail. According to TechCrunch, the Confidential Mode feature could be released at the same time or could be delayed to a subsequent update.
Google last overhauled Gmail's web look in 2011, opting for a more spaced-out, cleaner look as part of an effort to unify the way its products appear on desktop and mobile.
