Warner and a slew of other politicians have said that they're concerned about the potential for Chinese companies like Huawei and ZTE to give the Chinese government backdoor access into the data about Americans using their devices.
The social media leader said it "disagreed" with the conclusions of a New York Times report that found that the device makers could access information on Facebook users' friends without their explicit consent. He said that in the early days of mobile internet-before Facebook had a standalone app-the company partnered up with device-makers to make Facebook-like features (such as messages and like buttons) available to their users.
In March, Facebook was forced on the defensive after it was revealed that a company that used its platform, Cambridge Analytica, had harvested data in unethical ways for political purposes.
Apple said that it had previously used the software interfaces to allow iPhone users to do things like post photos to Facebook without opening the app, but that its device access was terminated in September.

Morgan was supposed to lead the World XI team, but now, in his absence, Shahid Afridi will assume the leadership duties. After the blow caused a bruise, Morgan was sent for a precautionary X-ray, which revealed a crack.

The Cambridge Analytica controversy led lawmakers to demand that Zuckerberg testify before two Congressional committees in April, during which he claimed, "Every piece of content that you share on Facebook you own".
As evidenced from the Cambridge Analytica scandal, that kind of shady behaviour has resulted in quite the privacy nightmare, but according to a new report, phone and tablet manufacturers apparently had access to that data too.

In a brief phone interview with CNN, Michael Rotondo said he left the house because "I had to be out by today". He failed to persuade the judge to grant him another six months with his parents and was ordered to leave.
The senators also want Zuckerberg to answer how Facebook verifies that its data partners aren't abusing that information, as well as what other manufacturers the social network partnered with.
Zuckerberg was adamant before Congress that Facebook is seriously committed to users' privacy.
According to the Washington Post, "Vladeck said additional penalties could include a court-ordered monitor of Facebook's business practices, injunctions against particular ways of using of consumers' data or heightened monitoring by the FTC".
Former Facebook privacy compliance official Sandy Parakilas, now a bigtime Facebook critic, told the paper that the device partnerships had been "flagged internally as a privacy issue", and it was "shocking" that the data-sharing is still going on.
"Over the last decade, around 60 companies have used" these "device-integrated APIs", Facebook's Archibong wrote in his blog posting. "Individuals cannot be expected to be able to weigh the risks and benefits of sharing their personal information, when the transaction is mostly completely opaque by design and they can't trust what companies are telling them".
Facebook is shutting down trending topics feature
Facebook fired its human curators in response, saying at the time that it hoped to automate the Trending section. The company is also funding news videos, created exclusively for Facebook by publishers it would not yet name.
"Given that these APIs enabled other companies to recreate the Facebook experience, we controlled them tightly from the get-go", it states.
